Helen's Surgery is the seventh episode of the third season of Drake & Josh.
Synopsis[]
Drake and Josh take advantage of Helen's temporary blindness following eye surgery to use all the cool stuff in her house.
Plot[]
In the opening comments, Josh talks about being responsible while Drake, and begins talking about Josh's history. Josh gets furious and tackles Drake.
Josh has the gold vest as Helen made him temporary assistant manager as she gets laser eye surgery; Josh tells Drake that if he does a good job when Helen gets back in a full recovery, she might promote him the position permanently. Megan pitches to Josh an idea that may persuade Helen to promote him, a bucket that can hold popcorn, soda, and candy snacks in one container called the Cup-O-Stuff. Josh, however, insults it and thinks it's a dumb idea. At the Premiere, a customer proves Megan's idea great as he spills all his snacks including popcorn, soda, and candy. Josh, however, still refuses to take interest in Megan's idea despite showing him a prototype. Helen arrives back, still blind and tries to continue her job as boss. Josh insists she just got out of surgery and needs to go home and rest. After Helen, unknowingly sprays the customer with a cola, she reluctantly agrees and appoints Josh to take care of her for the day.
When Josh asks Drake to drive him with Helen to Helen's apartment, Drake decides to kiss the girl he met, Josh takes him. They discover how amazing Helen's apartment is: a hot tub, a dance game with a disco ball attached. Josh looks at her hamster, Nubby, and it bites him. The boys question how she got such a luxurious apartment, to which she tells Josh is not his business, but tells Drake she still gets royalties as a child actress on the show Happy Times. Josh goes to the pharmacy to replace Helen's eye drops after accidentally dumping them into the sink at Helen's apartment. He asks Drake to stay and watch Helen, which he agrees, so he can enjoy Helen's luxurious apartment.
When Josh arrives at home to pick up extra clothes and supplies in case, he has to stay overnight to watch her, Drake shows up, stressing Josh out to worry about her being blind and could have an accident. When they rush back to the apartment, Helen was nowhere to be seen.
Josh runs back to the Premiere to see if she's there. His coworker, Gavin makes Josh feel guilty as he passively wonders what if Helen wandered into traffic and got killed, imagining that funeral. Megan calls Josh at the Premiere that Helen was at their house. Megan brought her home when she found Helen wandered to the park talking to a shrub and pitches the Cup-O-Stuff to Helen. Josh makes it back home to pick up Helen to return her to the apartment.
Josh gets annoyed as Helen loves Megan's product. Drake has thrown a party at her place with many friends in her hot tub, unknown to Helen and much to Josh's shock. Josh gets angry, and Helen decides she wants to take a dip in the jacuzzi in her clothes, not wanting to change into her bathing suit. The teens try to keep quiet, and Helen gets a call from her doctor. Unfortunately, Helen's eyes have recovered, and Helen takes off her bandages to find the party in her hot tub, to which everyone just decides to say "surprise." She acts as if she is furious and accuses Josh of throwing this party, but Josh angerly tells her it was all Drake's idea. Helen's mood shifts as she believes it Drake threw the party to congratulate her on her completed surgery and improved vision.
At the end, Josh is back at the Premiere as a red vest, and Helen bought Megan's Cup-O-Stuff idea, which becomes successful. Helen pays her a percentage of the profits, to which, accumulated to $700 thus far.
During the end credits, Megan and Helen are at home watching Happy Times.

Trivia[]
- Audrey and Walter do not appear in this episode, although Walter is mentioned by Josh.
- It is revealed that Helen was a child actress who played Little Georgia on the show, "Happy Times" who had a catchphrase which was "That is not my job."
- This episode is on the Drake & Josh Go Hollywood DVD along with Mindy's Back.
- Helen reveals to Drake and Josh that she was on the show "Happy Times" (parody of Good Times and Happy Days). Josh asks her, "Wasn't that a TV show back in the '70s?" Helen responds with, "That's the one." Her character Little Georgia is a parody of Florida Evans from Good Times.
- This reveals how Helen is wealthy as she gets syndication money or royalty checks that paid for her luxury apartment.
- In Josh's funeral dream, he imagines all the Premiere employees are wearing their usual vests, but colored black to represent grief.
- Helen might have broken the fourth wall in the credits when she told Megan "You wouldn't want to be a little girl in a TV show," which she is.
- Helen's apartment is seen for the first (and only) time.
- Josh saying teens gone wild in this episode is a reference to the season one finale when he says Grammys gone wild in the episode’s deleted scene of the end credits.
- Helen references her Happy Times stint on the Victorious episode Helen Back Again.
- Josh mentions when he and Drake fixed the Dune Buggy in the Season 1 episode Dune Buggy.
- Groove Machine is a parody of Dance Revolution.
- Many of the laugh tracks from Kenan & Kel are used during this episode, including the Happy Times scenes. It's possible that the reused "live audience" sound files from that show were reused here.
- This is the first episode Drake steals Josh's story at the very beginning of the episode just because he didn't have one of his own causing Josh to run upstairs very quick after he called him on the phone for ideas to stop him and to jump on him as they fall on the ground.
- Moral(s): Always help people when they need help, and don't take advantage of them.

Goofs[]
- When Josh imagines Helen's funeral, everyone was blaming him for abandoning her in her time of need, including Drake. However, Drake should be the one responsible for Helen's death as he was the one who left Helen alone in her condo.
- Since the flashback wasn't real, it's likely that Gavin was either making the whole story up or exaggerating to make Josh feel bad.
- When Helen and Drake are playing the Groove Machine, they do the same dance steps, but the steps shown on the screen are different.
- Also in that same scene, there was two sections on the tv where two people were playing. But then when Josh steps up there and starts dancing, there were still two sections on the TV. Since Josh joined after they started, he was never actually playing.
- You can also tell the dance machine is rigged because before we see everyone in the hot tub later on in the episode, it's playing by itself.
- In addition, the pads are foam, where official pads would be metal.
- If you look closely at Drake's right shoulder when he has his back to the camera while in Helen's apartment without his shirt, you can see where the makeup artists covered Drake's tattoo of John Lennon's glasses.
- The kitchen phone with caller display is back, originally, they had a green one, but in The Drake & Josh Inn, they had this one, then the green one came back, and in the first scene, the new one is back.
- When at the movie theater, Drake takes a cup and puts soda into the cup straight from the nozzle without any ice. When Josh sees Drake making out with the girl, they turn around and the girl shakes her cup when Drake says, "I got her a soda". When she shakes it, it makes a noise sounding like ice against the cup. Drake never got the girl any ice.
- When Josh arrives at the theater after being in Helen's hot tub, he is bone dry instead of soaking wet, although he may have dried off at her place.
- Drake could've just asked Josh to get his bathing suit for him before Josh left.
- Josh also had his cell phone, as Megan did call him to let him know she is with Helen, so Drake could've easily called Josh to ask as well.
- Helen first comes into the movie theater with bandages on her eyes and can't see. She just had her laser eye surgery but shows up at The Premiere when she can't see but how'd she gets to The Premiere from the hospital with bandages covering her eyes? She couldn't have drove because she can't see and if she did then how'd she avoid not getting into any car accidents or getting hurt? And how'd she finds the movie theater without seeing and nobody helping her? She couldn't have walked either because if she did then she'd trip over something or bump into things and people or maybe accidentally walk on the road with cars driving by but when she shows up at the movie theater, she's completely okay and fine except her eyes.
- Josh actually questions her on driving to the Premiere, to which comically responds, "not one of my best ideas." This could imply she did hit something.
- Those who have laser eye surgery should not drive, so Helen could have called and asked Josh or someone else she trusts to give her a ride or taken a taxi instead.
- Realistically, when a doctor schedules the patient for a surgery, they ask the patient to bring a friend or family member as the patient's designated driver to come with them and stay the whole time in the waiting room to serve as the patient's ride home upon the surgery's completion. The doctor could be liable for releasing the patient if the patient is unfit to drive.
- Helen shouldn't have left her phone on the edge of the hot tub, because during the party with all the shaking and dancing, the phone could've either fell in the water and got destroyed since it's not waterproof, or it could've fell on the floor, so she could've just given it back to Drake and Josh to hang it up for her.
- Helen initially accused Josh of throwing a party in her condo, but she was with him when they walked in, she should have known he wasn't the one throwing the party.
- Helen shouldn't charge the man for another drink if he accidentally drops his previous one, she almost had to make him pay for a new drink when he only spills the drink, he already paid for, so it should've been a free refill.
- The man spilled his popcorn and his soda but only asked for another soda.
- Helen buys Megan's Cup-O-Stuff idea, clarifying that it's hard carrying popcorn and drinks all the time, though the popcorn is on top and the pop is on the bottom, while the candy is on the side, how'd they even get the pop on the bottom of the cups and the popcorn on top? And how would people even drink the soda if it's under the popcorn?
