Eric Punches Drake is the twelfth episode of the fourth season of Drake & Josh.
Synopsis[]
After Eric accidentally punches Drake, he finds a new world of fame, popularity and girls. Josh has problems of his own when he suspects that Mindy may have a new boyfriend.
Plot[]
In the opening comments, Josh tries to put batteries in his flashlight and Drake sprays his corn red while they talk about rumors.
At school, Eric accidentally punches Drake in the eye while demonstrating a kung fu move to Craig. He soon becomes popular as witnesses thought he punched Drake on purpose. After feeling comfortable with the popularity, Eric starts spreading rumors about the punch and every story is different, reducing Drake to a laughingstock and a wimp. Dismayed by the popularity due to this, Drake, with the help of Craig who has split up from Eric and is now isolated into a garbage can which appears behind the school. He also attempts to reveal Eric's non-intention for punching him. In the Premiere, Eric was going to show the actual punch, but he accidentally hits a girl, in which the other kids think he punched the girl on purpose. Eric loses his popularity immediately much to his prediction, but Drake reassures Eric before leaving with the girl.
Meanwhile, Josh worries that Mindy has another boyfriend, Chad. Josh becomes more obnoxious about it, so Mindy gets him back by having Chad tell his group of friends how he was on The Oprah Winfrey Show to enrage Josh even more. After Josh finally confronts Mindy, she reveals that Chad is her cousin. They both argue about who was more off putting about the situation but end up making up and kissing.
During the end credits, Drake, Craig, and Eric sing behind a dumpster, thus reconciling their friendship.

Trivia[]
- Audrey is absent on this episode.
- You can see a blimp with a message attached to it in this episode of the show. It turned out that Craig sent it after Mr. Roland said, "No blimps in the hallway."
- Eric becomes popular in this episode of Drake & Josh.
- The name of the kung fu move that Eric demonstrates on Craig is called, "The Fist of Silence." The title of the kung fu movie where this type of martial arts move that was used is unknown.
- This episode aired one year after Theater Thug.
- In Nick Asia, during the fight between Josh and Mindy, the camera goes to Drake singing with Craig and Eric, leaving out the part where Josh and Mindy kiss.
- It is revealed that Eric is a pacifist. A pacifist is a person who refuses to fight. (This does not seem to count as accidental attacks, as Eric accidentally punched Drake).
- It is also implied Eric is Jewish as Drake mistakes the term pacifist as a religion.
- Craig says "Rat's Hat" then Drake says it confused. In The Amanda Show Drake played a character named Tony Pajamas who often said, "Rat's Hat".
- The squeak toy featured in this episode is Olie Polie from Rolie Polie Olie. It was reseen on an episode of Sister, Sister and burped when Lisa squeezed it.
- This is the only time where Craig corrects Drake for mistaking their names. It is mostly Eric who does that.
- The episode marked the final appearances of Mr. Roland and Clayton.
- It is never revealed who started the rumors that Eric punched Drake on purpose. Drake initially thought that Eric started it, but Eric was unaware that there were rumors. Eric claimed he attempted to stop the rumors but goes on to make up different stories to people after becoming instantly popular and asked on a date by a cute popular girl.
- This episode takes place right after Josh Is Done, so when Josh, Craig and Eric finished their Organic Chemistry test and the new chemistry test books introduced could have taken place on the day after the episode, while Drake spitting mouthwash into Clayton's water bottle could've been his revenge for the incident that Clayton caused that day.
- Eric punches Drake in the eye just like Buck punches Josh in the eye in the first episode Pilot.
- This is the last episode where Josh used emphasis in a sentence.
- Characters in other Schneider's Bakery shows would also have a black eye. Logan in the Drippin' episode of Zoey 101 (Dana also mentions a black eye in the New Roomies episode), Freddie in the iGo To Japan episode of iCarly and Jade in the Stage Fighting episode of Victorious. Interestingly, the names of Drake, Freddie and Jade all end in the letter "e".
Goofs[]
- The entire school believes Eric punched Drake on purpose, but quite a few students would have seen the actual event occur.
- Right before Eric punches Drake, if you pause you could easily see a stunt double of Drake is being used.
- Drake's left eye should be black. When he walks by Eric and gets hit, Eric is on his left and he spins to the left before he falls, but during the episode, his right eye is bruised and hurt.
- A stunt double taking the hit from Eric instead of Drake himself, in combination with Drake's right eye being black, when his left eye should be black instead, clearly gives away the fact that Drake's black eye is not at all from being punched but is rather simply cosmetics that artists from the makeup department put on him.
