El BAFTA al mejor director es el premio entregado anualmente por la Academia Británica de las Artes Cinematográficas y de la Televisión al mejor director, en honor al director y productor cinematográfico británico David Lean. El premio BAFTA al mejor director se entrega desde 1968 y en 1991, se decide dedicar el mismo a David Lean como homenaje al fundador de la Academia Británica de la Artes Cinematográficas y de la Televisión.
